On May 18, Sr. Shitaye’s perpetual vows were celebrated in Sadama, in the St. Anne Parish, where the new MSC mission was recently established. Nearly 1,000 people attended this important moment of celebration. The choir alone consisted of around four hundred people. Presiding was Bishop Seyoum Fransua who celebrated the occasion together with the pastor of Sr. Shitaye’s home parish who undertook the long journey from Welkite along with some parishioners and members of Sr. Shitaye’s family. Present at the celebrations were Regional Superior, Sr. Barbara Staley, General Councilor Sr. Patricia Godoy, and among other MSCs also Sr. Suany and Sr. Diane, Members of the Commission for Formation. Although the presence of MSCs in the parish is recent, the parishioners and priests did their utmost in assisting the three MSC sisters (Srs. Amarech, Aynalem and Shitaye) in the preparations for the wonderful liturgy and lunch that they all shared together.

Sr. Shitaye wrote: “I would like to thank the Lord for the gift of my vocation to follow Jesus through the Charism of our mother, St. Cabrini. And I thank God for His presence and loving care in my whole being”.

On June 7, Feast of the Sacred Heart, Bishop Jose Luis Ponce de Leon, Bishop of the Diocese of Manzini, presided over the Eucharistic celebration of Sr. Meseret Nagamo’s perpetual vows at St. Philip’s Parish.

After the ceremony in the church, enlivened by the choir, before sharing lunch, the Cabrini Ministries staff performed a beautiful traditional Swaziland dance.

In addition to the lovely lunch provided, we enjoyed delicious cakes and breads baked by some Ethiopian women living in Manzini, and then concluded with a coffee and popcorn ceremony, prepared by the Ethiopian sisters. The celebration and festivities for Sr. Meseret were also attended by the General Superior, Sr. Eliane, along with Sr. Patricia, Sr. Barbara, Sr. Diane and many other MSCs. Sr. Meseret writes “The celebration was so beautiful and powerful and it left an indelible mark on my heart. As I begin this journey of mine to continue Jesus’ mission, I pray daily for God’s grace to strengthen me.”

Es una profunda alegría ver la vivacidad del Carisma Cabriniano recreándose en el “Sí” generoso de las hermanas. Dios les bendiga siempre.
