November 13 and 14 are very important dates for our Congregation; on this day we would like to offer these simple insights. On Frances Xavier Cabrini we find written in Pensieri e propositi- Immagine di un’anima (edited by Fr. Giuseppe De Luca):
“On the first of their new life, in the saints one notices something adventurous, whimsical, visibly out of the ordinary. Almost like a river that has not yet found and dug its course. After that, they seem to normalize. In Blessed Cabrini, a woman in whom the will prevailed over the imagination, nothing even from the beginning that seems out of the ordinary. She composed the inner torrent of the spirit in a serene, equal, smiling demeanor. Until the end.”
Today, however, marks 144 years since the founding of the Institute. We read from the Memoirs this passage, which we have also chosen on the occasion of the Jubilee of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that falls this year:
“It seemed to each of us to find ourselves on the threshold of Paradise on entering this house, the goal and fulfillment of all our vows and desires…. we entered it and immediately caught sight of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the altar, who seemed to be waiting for us and pointing us to his Divine Heart gently animated us to enter it to kindle us with the fire of his love and put ourselves with such commitment to the new enterprise of our own sanctification and that of the souls he would entrust to us.”
Happy Feast to the entire Cabrinian family!
